3 Kings is a series of residential concept studies showing the redevelopment of a plot for multi-generational, residential use in Breda, the Netherlands. The community would include starter apartment units, mid-segment homes, and a residential elder care center. The urban plan includes a park with leisure activities, green spaces, and services such as an on-site cafe. The apartment buildings would have graduated heights spanning low-rise, mid-rise, and high- rise, and are strategically located to cause the least possible shadow fall on neighboring housing units. Sustainable energy features for 3 Kings include green roofs, urban gardens and parks, solar panels, green parking with electric chargers for vehicles, and gas-free utilities that connect to sustainable city heating networks and reduce CO2 emissions.
