The Gran Shopping Mongolfiera mall in Molfetta, Italy, is a single-storey retail environment and with 42,000 m² of GLA, the largest in the province of Apulia. Molfetta is a beautiful, historical city in southeastern Italy, originally a small fishing port and village. Reflecting Molfetta´s significant and historical relationship with the sea, the Gran Shopping Mongolfiera has an overarching nautical theme. Features include the grandiose ceiling compass on the large central square and enlarged maps covering the walls. The mall provides all amenities in a compact shopping route, consisting of three galleries with shops on either side. Additionally, there are three spacious squares. One of these squares is dedicated to a food court, and the large central square at the main entrance is an ideal space for events and community gatherings.
The shopping centre offers over 110 retail units, including a 7,000 m² Ipercoop hypermarket. The centre is serviced by 2,500 surface parking places and a bus terminal providing easy access for the community to purchase everything from everyday items to the newest fashion.
After opening, the mall won the CNCC Italy Award of 2010. The award is the one of the highest achievements a shopping centre can achieve in the country, judged by the National Council of Shopping Malls.
